This course is divided into two sections: It combines the topics "Introduction to Persuasive Communication" (taught by Melanie Leidecker) and "Effects of Persuasive Communication" (taught by Ines Vogel).
The course will take place at the following location: Building K, Campus Landau Seminar room: K0.16 (“Medienraum”)
The course "Introduction to Persuasive Communication" will start with a short introduction into communication science in general. Then it will focus more specifically on definitions, theories and research on Persuasive Communication. According to a simple communication model (Lasswell) we will have a look at the sender of persuasive communication (who deciedes what kind of persuasive content will be communicated?), the medium (does the channel matter in context of persuasive communication?), and the recipients (to whom does the sender communicate resp. who will adopt his message and with what effects?).
The course starts at October 16. For the last session we're planning to do an excursion to the ZKM (Center for Art and Media --> http://on1.zkm.de/zkm/e/ ) in Karlsruhe. The date for this excursion will be scheduled in class. |
