---- This seminar will be in an online format (mixture of both synchronous and asynchronous parts)!!! No physical presence needed -----
Note that this seminar is part of the MM module and must be attended if you wish to complete the module. This seminar must be finished before attending the project seminar (MM3) in the summer semester. Don't forgett to also subscribe to the lecture (MM1; https://klips.uni-koblenz-landau.de/v/126995).
The seminar will be held in English or German, depending on the participants language abilities and preferences. This seminar is mainly characterized as a Journal Club in which different articles related to environmental psychology are read, creatively presented and discussed based on various criteria. The articles were either selected by me or you. Each participant needs to read and present several articles.
The aims of the seminar / journal club are to
- deepen your knowledge on the topics of the lecture
- gain more experience in reading, presenting, and discussing scientific literature
- form your opinion on the research
- critically examine scientific articles and methods
- get inspiration for own research projects (the following project seminar [MM3] or your Master thesis)
Besides the presentations and attendance in the seminar, there will be further course assessment: To complete the modules “exam” you are asked to write a critical term paper on two related articles (at least one of the articles must be from the lecture or journal club). The term paper must include the theoretical background, short summaries of the two articles, an argumentation and discussion on their relation to each other (e.g., similar or contradicting findings, differences in methods, same findings but diverging conclusions, using results of study A as assumption for study B), discussion on the methodological quality of the articles, and conclusions for future research. You will get a combined mark based on this term paper and the project report (MM3). Length of the term paper: 6-12 pages. Deadline depends on your subscription to the module exam in KLIPS (earlier submission is always possible). |
